I can see clearly now!

Hello! Afternoon everyone!

Not much news to post around here! I didn’t get a workout in this morning because I had to be showered, dressed, and ready to open the door to our window installers! I am ridiculously happy to be replacing 20 (yes that’s right 20) windows in our one story little home. I didn’t realize how bad they were until we took down all the curtains and could see the cold air and moisture trapped in between the panes as well as the rotting wood! I’m sure I’ll burn a few calories putting back all the furniture and cleaning up tonight! Oh yeah, and I’ll be walking to and from work today.

Food

I had the same breakfast that I had yesterday so I’ll spare you the details. For a mid morning snack I had a Jonagold apple, if you haven’t tried this type of apple yet they are AMAZING! I also had a Banana Bread Larabar. Have you tried these yet? They are pretty tasting and filling and give me lots of energy! I’m pretty picky about my snack bars. They have to be nutritious, not too much fiber (gives me a tummy ache) and some what reasonably priced. Larabars are on sale at my local Co-Op this month! I’m about to head home for lunch and plan on eating some left over split-pea soup also from Stephanie’s book. By the way the Salsa Chicken and Black Bean soup I made turned out wonderfully! We garnished it with fresh avocado, tortilla chips, cheese, and sour cream! Tomorrow night I’ll be eating probably one of the most unhealthy meals you’ll ever see me post. Good thing we only eat this meal maybe twice a year! You have to indulge once in a while right? Everything in moderation!

First Post!

Happy Monday morning to ya! Wow! This is my first post on my NEW blog! I’ve tried blogging before but didn’t really have a focus to my writing. This time I’m ready! Please bear with my as I muddle through the world of blog design and html language! I can guarantee that my writing will have purpose and focus and I hope you enjoy it!

So, what is this blog all about! Well, it’s a little bit of fitness, a little bit of food, and of course some FUN! You can read about my journey in the “Who is the girl in the pink sneakers” section. Mainly I wan to share with you my continued journey to staying healthy WITHOUT the scale and WITHOUT obsessing over calories, fat, etc. I am striving to eat healthy and whole foods that fuel my body, mind and soul. I workout not to burn calories but to feel my best and keep my muscles, strong! So let’s get to it!

Food

I strated out my day with Green Monster, also known as a Green Smoothie. Have you tried these yet? Angel at Oh She Glows coined the phrase “Green Monster.” Basically it’s a smoothie with some type of “greens” in it along with fruit and other healthy eats. My Green Monster this morning included:

  • 1c Skim Milk
  • 2c Spinach
  • 1 tsp of Canola Oil (healthy fat)
  • 1/4c Lemon Juice
  • Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Banana
  • 1C mixed berries (blue and black)

See! It doesn’t even look green!

I also had a piece of Ezekiel Bread toasted with some almond butter. A note on almond butter. My local food Co-Op has a machine filled with raw almonds that you can grind for fresh almond butter. I had eaten almond butter in this way for quiet awhile. About a month ago almond butter in a jar was on sale so I tried that and….I DIDN’T like it! I didn’t like how it sepreated. It was too running in the beginning and to hard in the end. Oh well! Just my thought!

Fitness

I taught Spinning this morning at the YMCA. We did a 45 minute speed workout where we pushed our cadence just below a sprint for intervals of 1:00 and 0:30. It was great. Afterwards I did some core work and then headed home!

Well, I better plug-in my crockpot with my prepared Salsa Chicken and Black Bean Soup from Stephanie’s book! Check her out she’s amazing! We’re getting NEW windows in our 1930′s style bungalow house (pretty sure the windows are original) lots to do to get ready plus walk the puppy, and maybe work on some Zumba choreography!

See ya peeps!
